Livre événement, qui fait suite au succès de 400 femmes artistes publié par Phaidon, 300 femmes peintres s'attache à dévoiler une version plus riche et plus diversifiée de l'histoire de la peinture. Couvrant près de 500 ans de technique et d'innovation, cette étude célèbre le travail de plus de 300 femmes artistes, des noms emblématiques de l'histoire de l'art aux figures montantes de l'art contemporain.

Ce nouveau "Cahier de la Collection Lambert", un numéro double, bilingue français-anglais, est consacré à Cy Twombly (après ceux consacrés à Niele Toroni, Nan Goldin, Rob Ryman, Sol Lewitt), artiste américain parmi les plus reconnus, dont le travail est particulièrement bien représenté dans la Collection Lambert, témoignant de la complicité entre l'artiste et le collectionneur.
La Collection Lambert est le témoignage d'un marchand visionnaire, qui s'est passionné pour l'art minimal, l'art conceptuel et le land art avant de s'intéresser au retour de la peinture dans les années 1980, puis à la photographie, à la vidéo et aux installations dans les années 1990 et 2000.

Unanimement salué comme l'un des plus grands peintres de la seconde moitié du XXe siècle, Cy Twombly reconnecte l'héritage de l'expressionisme abstrait américain avec les origines de la peinture classique occidentale. Il accorde une importance capitale aux cycles et aux séries dans lesquels il réinvente, à sa manière, la grande peinture d'histoire.

Cette première monographie de l'artiste française installée à Los Angeles, célèbre pour son approche figurative et engagée dans laquelle le corps est le sujet central, présente une large sélection de ses oeuvres (de nombreuses peintures et dessins présentés sur des papiers différents, et quelques sculptures) ainsi qu'une douzaine vues d'exposition. Elle est accompagnée de deux textes critiques originaux écrits par Anna Katherine Brodbeck et Annabelle Teneze, ainsi que de douze citations choisies par l'artiste (Jorge Luis Borges, Alice Neel, Pierre Guyotat, Georges Bataille, Marguerite Yourcenar, Sebald, Oscar Wilde, Adonis, Agnès Martin...) qui ouvrent chacune des parties.

Artiste clairvoyant et passeur de l'art moderne de Paris à New York, Marius de Zayas est au coeur du bouleversement artistique du début du XXe siècle. Le photographe Alfred Stieglitz le repère et l'associe à son travail de galeriste, d'éditeur et de défricheur d'art nouveau. Picabia le caricature, Apollinaire le publie et Picasso l'éblouit tant que de Zayas organise la première exposition de ses oeuvres à New York. Grâce à lui, le public américain découvre l'art nègre « le sens même de la peinture » selon Picasso. Son effervescence intellectuelle et sa culture font de lui un homme de La Renaissance.

Soixante ans après sa disparition, deux livres rassemblés en un coffret restituent l'oeuvre et la vie romanesque de ce caricaturiste au regard aiguisé, marchand d'art enthousiaste et peintre inspiré, peu soucieux de sa notoriété.

In Book Manifest, world-renowned Dutch designer Irma Boom presents her vision on the essence, meaning and relevance of the book. A selection of Boom's books are held in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and an Irma Boom Archive has been instituted at the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands, to showcase her work.

Kerry James Marshall est un artiste et professeur américain, connu pour ses peintures de personnages noirs. Il a auparavant enseigné la peinture à la School of Art and Design de l'Université de l'Illinois à Chicago.

Présentant des peintures de séries réalisées sur une période de 15 ans, de 1994 à 2009, ce volume retrace l'engagement de Mike Kelley (1954-2012) avec le médium à travers des corpus d'oeuvres dont The Thirteen Seasons (Heavy on the Winter) , une série de peintures formelles sur bois qui marqua le retour de Kelley à la peinture en couleur, la série Horizontal Tracking Shots, ainsi que des oeuvres à l'illustration du système éducatif.

Over the past decade, Frank Bowling has enjoyed belated attention and celebration, including a major Tate Britain retrospective in 2019. This comprehensive monograph, published in 2011, is now available in an updated and expanded edition.

Born in British Guiana in 1934, Bowling arrived in England in his late teens, going on to study at the Royal College of Art alongside David Hockney and Derek Boshier. By the early 1960s he was recognised as an original force in the vibrant London art scene, with a style that brilliantly combined figurative, symbolic and abstract elements.

Dividing his time between New York and London since the late 1960s, he has developed a unique and virtuosic abstract style that combines aspects of American painterly abstraction with a treatment of light and space that consciously recollects the great English landscape painters Gainsborough, Turner and Constable. In a compelling text the art writer, critic and curator Mel Gooding hails Bowling as one of the finest British artists of his generation.
